Have you ever used so called “audio guide” mobile applications? We also didn’t.

Why? Simply because the amount of content they offer is so little that it barely could satisfy tourist need for the entertaining stories. In some cities there are available several applications of the kind, each incorporating 10-20 stories within it. That is why stories from one provider can’t be used in the application of another vendor thus limiting each other and leaving tourists unsatisfied.

In the middle of the year 2011, Dutch company IZITEQ suggested to the market to develop one common standard for the content for mobile guides. It was called MTG (Mobile Tourist Guide) standard.

Introduction of such a standard will allow any content that conform the standard to be used by any application. That approach could dramatically change and boost that market.

Several IT experts living in the Netherlands found the idea fascinating and decided to develop world first application that will work with the content prepared upon MTG standard. The company was formed and finally, first MTG application is available.
